"In 1979, shortly after I got my driver's permit, I volunteered to drive Janet and I to a restaurant dinner for my first legal drive. As I started the car and diligently did my safety check, I noticed Janet had brought a giant Baccarat tumbler full of Scotch. Oh well, it was the '70's and I was excited to drive. I felt pretty cool driving up in my mom's Porsche to this fancy outdoor restaurant on Sunset Blvd, the kind of restaurant where everyone watches the glitzy people pull up in their showy cars. As the valet opened Janet's door, Janet realized that her Baccarat tumbler still had scotch and ice in it. Janet decided to quickly toss the ice and scotch to the curb, but the glass slipped out of her hand and literally exploded with a boom against the curb. When all the diners looked over to see what happened, I thought Janet might show a shudder of embarrassment.
